Flashback

11 Years and approximately 3 weeks ago, this is what I looked like! So young and skinny...able to drink and eat whatever I wanted!! All those women in the picture with me were all my age now. And they all still look amazing in their 40's while I have ballooned to enormous proportions. In that 11 years, I haven't done anything as flighty as that Hawaii trip and I would give anything if I could pull out the Flux Capasitor and travel back to that time. Yes, I'd be saddled with a shitty husband, but I swear I'd be smarter; less emotional; less scared to kick him the fuck out. If I could go back to that trip, at that time, I'd be more prepared for what was about to happen after that trip, and how it would effect the rest of my life and the choices I made.

This was taken in September of 2001 at a luau during our last night in Kawaii, Hawaii. We flew back to Los Angeles and spent a couple of days with our friend before flying home the night of September 10, 2011 on United from Los Angeles to New York.

What  I wouldn't give to look like that again......
I'm in the yellow dress!!!

  1. You look like a little kid, not a married woman. Is the hubby anywhere in this pic? How old were you in this picture? I just wanna pinch those cheeks with you in that little yellow dress! Hahahaha!

    1. I was 22, about to turn 23 that November. LOL
No, the men were left out of this picture. It was girls only. That was a crazy expensive yellow dress. It was made with material that was made on that island, some really silky cotton/silk blend, and it had built-in boobs! It was the only one on the clearance rack that was my size (hence the color) and it still set me back something like $60.

My friend scanned this picture and put it up on social network unnamed. It really shocked me how different I look now compared to how I looked back then. It made me sad. =(

  2. I remember you when you were even smaller than this! REmember those days? Cup o'noodle for lunch and a shared slice of pizza for dinner with stolen Coke to go along with it? You've come a long way since then. For the record, you're not enormous. You're heavier than you were, but you're still pretty fucking skinny by American standards.

Is it wrong that I hear that song from Cats playing along while I'm looking at this?

TOOOOOOOUCCCHH MEEEEEEE...ITS SO EAAAAAASY TO LLEEEEEEAAAAAAAAVE MEEEEEEEE....ALL ALONE WITH THOSE MEMORIIIIIIIIIES....OF MY DAYS IN THE SUUUUUUUN....

    1. I didn't steal Coke!!! I "borrowed" from Tammy's stash until payday and I replaced it respectfully!!! I remember those days. I don't remember my tummy grumbling so much when I didn't have enough money to buy more food. I don't know why it feels like I'm starving to death now when I try to diet. I think it's all psychological. And, you know what else? If I didn't have my 20% CVS discount those days, I wouldn't have even been able to afford the Cup-a-noodle every day! HA! Oh man, it's crazy how far we come. But, I'm so proud that I never went to my parents once for any help. I managed.

Dude how do you even know the words to that song?!

  3. You're adorable! And you still are. My weight has always fluctuated. I'd love to have my 2006 size body back. The Lara Croft pic that Rob has of me, that was taken in 2006. I was thin but with boobs and a butt. LOL!

    1. It's depressing how difficult it is to get back to a shape that I completely took for granted when I had it. The body is breaking down and there's very little I can do about it.

  4. So true! And the things that used yo work in weight loss no longer work the same way they used to. I'm losing weight but it's taking forever. Sigh.

    1. If I can afford it, I may do Weight Watchers. I obviously can't be trusted to do this on my own, left to my own devices. I'm so lost. =(

  5. I need to start exercising more often. And walking more. I noticed the other day that I take my car places when I could also walk instead. Old habits die hard!

    1. I can't even say I have a car to take instead of walking. But, I will admit that if I have to walk far to go run errands, I end up staying in bed and not doing what I need to do because I'm too lazy to get up and walk. =(
